The hole in the pad, which makes room for the pivot joint, also means that the pivot joint sits higher than the actual pad. The result was that while I was trying to prep a semi gloss wall (ugh) for flat paint, the pole sander just scraped a huge scratch where the pivot joint made contact. I wound up switching to liquid deglosser. This is going in the trash.
